Playa de las Arenas Blancas is located in the western part of the El Golfo bay, on so-called Punta de La Dehesa (northern coast of El Hierro), in the municipio of La Frontera.


This is the only white and sandy beach on the island. It was formed from the remains of molluscs, crustaceans and, beautifully glittering in the sun, pieces of pearls. Its light colour perfectly distinguishes on the background of volcanic black, that dominate in the close neighbourhood.




The Arenas Blancas beach is small, rarely visited, undeveloped - practically virgin. While swimming it's necessary to keep special caution on the sea streams, particurarly in the period between November and March, when they are the strongest.

The easiest way to Arenas Blancas leads along the northern coast, in the direction to the west. We have to pass the Pozo de la Salud, and turn right at the sign to Arenas Blancas into the sandy, bumpy road.
