Charco Azul is situated in the central part of the El Golfo bay (northern coast of El Hierro), in the vicinity of the village of Los Llanillos, in municipio of La Frontera.


Charco Azul are the two natural swimming pools filled with a seawater, created in the rocky bays and adapted for the public use, both for the residents and the tourists who visiting the island. The admission is free.
The name comes from the emerald colour of water in the bay (Azul - means emerald, blue).



For the safety and comfort the pools had been separated from the sea and equipped with the suitable ladders which are very helpful while entering and leaving them. On the stone coast are placed wooden platforms for sunbathing, the parasols protecting from the sun are also available.

From Las Puntas you should take the road toward Pozo de la Salud and in the vicinity of Los Llanillos, at the signpost to Charco Azul, turn right. From the car park is just a few-minute walk downstairs - to the rocky pools.
