Cruz de los Reyes is the place located in the central, mountainous part of El Hierro, in municipio of La Frontera.


It is situated among the most beautiful on the island pine forests, at the foot of Malpaso - the highest peak of El Hierro. From this point the tourists the most often begin their route to the summit.





Cruz de los Reyes is also one of the most important points of the famous Bajada de la Virgen - the fiesta which takes place every four years. Its main aim is the pilgrimage the image of Virgen de los Reyes from the sanctuary in La Dehesa to Valverde. In this place, during the short rest before continuing the trail to the capital, the pilgrims and dance groups give honours to the Mother Mary.

Few metres further, in the direction to Mirador la Llanía, is located Fuente Cruz de los Reyes. This place, situated in the center of beautiful forest, is perfectly adapted to the all-day picnic. Placed here rustic tables and stoves encourage to organize a fantastic barbecue.

From the capital of the island, Valverde, you should go in the direction to San Andrés and further to La Frontera and turn left at the Mirador la Llanía.
