Cueva del Caracol is located in the western part of El Hierro called La Dehesa, in municipio of La Frontera.


This, situated only few steps from the chapel of Ermita Virgen de los Reyes, complex of the cave houses was formerly inhabited by shepherds. It is also very important place for the local Herreños - here was kept the statue of the Virgen de los Reyes (the island's patron saint) after it appearance on the island. Later it was moved to the chapel.

Going from Valverde or La Restinga the best is to drive in the direction to El Pinar, turn into the way leading to Faro de Orchilla (through El Julan) and ahead until the Ermita Virgen de los Reyes. From this place is only few steps to Cueva del Caracol. The other way leads from La Frontera through Sabinosa next to the Faro de Orchilla.
