ECO-MUSEO POBLADO DE GUINEA

Poblado de Guinea is situated in the north-eastern part of El Hierro, in the valley Valle del Golfo, at the feet of Risco de Tibataje.

This, one of the three oldest settlements on the island (the other to are: La Albarrada and Las Montañetas), was converted into the archeological and ethnographical museum, managed by Cabildo de El Hierro. The route leads among the caves and volcanic corridors showing the way of life of the first inhabitants of the island - Bimbaches, and evolution of the construction industry since the times of Conquesu until the XXth century. All buildings have been restored by using the original materials and are the perfect example of the local architecture of Herreño based on usage the stone as a basic mean of building.

On the area of Eco-museo is also located Lagartario, where is possible to see the famous Lagartos Gigantes - the giant lizards of El Hierro.
