La Albarrada is situated in the north-eastern part of El Hierro, nearby the San Andrés.

This is one of the first and oldest settlements on the island. Others, which preserved to this days are located in Las Montañetas and Poblado de Guinea. The latter is currently converted into the archeological muzeum.

La Albarrada is the place, where the culture of Herreños was being formed and moulded. We find here the ruins of the ancient stone houses and remains of the street. Unfortunately majority of those are in the very bad condition.

From Valverde you should drive toward San Andrés, from where the well-signed road leads you to the same La Albarrada.
