Las Puntas is a small, picturesque village situated in the eastern part of the El Golfo bay, at the feet of the La Peña hill, in municipio of Frontera.


This is one of the most attractive places of the El Golfo bay, formerly it fulfilled the very important role in the island's economy. On the small stone ledge in Punta Grande was built a harbour used in 20's of XX century to export local products to the ports in North Europe, as well as to import necessary goods and commodities to the island.


Today on this small pier, in the restored building dated on 1884, is located the two-star hotel - Hotel Punta Grande. It has only 4 rooms and a tiny restaurant, and in 1992 was entered into The Guinness Book of Records as the world's smallest hotel.


The undoubted attraction is also Cascadas del Mar - the water park placed close to the hotel and designed by an architect Jerónimo Padrón. In this park are swimming pools of different shape and size, the cascades, waterfalls, fountains and bridges - all made of the lava of various colours. Moreover, from this part of the coast extends the fabulous view: over the protruding from the sea Roques de Salmor, over delightful rocks which create the Reserve of Tibataje (Reserva Natural de Tibataje) and of the entire El Golfo bay.

From the capital of the island, Valverde, you should take the main road leading to La Frontera (el Golfo) and turn right on the first crossroads behind the tunnel.
